My sweet baby girl just turned ONE, and I was so excited to finally compile her monthly baby photos! I don’t think it was until I posted this collage on Instagram that anyone realized there was any rhyme or reason behind the shirts my husband was wearing in each of the photos…
But, TA-DA! I was planning this rainbow collage all along, and it was so fun to finally see it come together. These are photos I will truly cherish forever. That first year goes so fast, and I’m so thankful I took the time to document her each month.
Now, a few of you have been asking how I get these monthly photos, so I thought I’d share. Here are my…
TIPS TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR BABY
- Make farting noises
- Bribe! Bribe! Bribe! At our house, we are particularly fond of cheerios, baby puffs, and even marshmallows if absolutely necessary (assuming your baby is old enough to safely eat these).
- MORE FARTING NOISES!
- If the farting noises don’t work, just scream/shout/mumble whatever weird noises you can manage to muster up while also successfully doing your job behind the camera.
- If all else fails, take 10,000 photos, and hope for the best.
But seriously, babies are really hard to photograph. It’s not always fun, or pretty trying to get these done, and my husband would be happy to tell you how much he hated taking them. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get the perfect shot, or any at all for that matter. Let me remind you that I’m a professional photographer, and this is literally my job. And in the end, its just about capturing a real picture of what life was like in this season of your life, whether it’s with a perfect smile, spit-up down the shirt, or a full-blown tantrum. One day you’ll look back at your photos, perfect or not, and remember the “good ol’ days!”
